Probe of Logan hospital Taser death delayed

LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Weber County prosecutors say they still haven't received the autopsy they need to determine whether charges should be filed in the death of a man who was Tasered at a Logan hospital four months ago.

The autopsy was expected to be completed within six weeks after 49-year-old Bruce Thomson died on Jan. 17.

But Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis tells The Herald Journal he still doesn't have the results.

Police responded to Thomson's Logan home after reports he was screaming and acting strange.

Officers Tasered him after he told them he had a gun but wouldn't show his hands.

Three hours later, security officers at Logan Regional Hospital said they had to Tase him again after he became combative. He went into cardiac arrest and died soon after.
