SALT LAKE CITY — In the age of smartphones, "selfies" — self-captured images — have become a ubiquitous event (just ask any teenager). But rarely do these selfies actually cause physical harm.

Standing atop the Green Monster in Fenway Park, Sun Sports reporter Kelly Nash was posing for a self-portrait when a home run ball narrowly misses her. The ball is captured in Nash's self-portrait, making it probably one of the greatest selfies ever.

"Producer Art Dryce had called out ‘heads up!' a few times while I was taking pictures around the left field section, but none of those balls actually fell close to me, so I took my chances turning my back on batting practice for a picture," Nash told Fox Sports. "My whole family is from Massachusetts, and I knew they would be so excited to see me working at Fenway Park, and when I went to text them the picture I noticed the baseball by my head!"

Nash credits the near miss to "Angels in the Outfield."

"I laughed pretty hard when I saw such a surreal picture that I had no idea I took," Nash said. "I thought, you have got to be kidding me, maybe there are really angels in the outfield. I actually brought the movie with me on the trip and had it in my bag at the game."

Tim Tebow released

The New York Jets informed Tim Tebow Monday morning that he was no longer a member of the team. Last week, the Jets drafted West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, making it all but official that Tebow's time with the Jets was done.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and fan favorite barely played with the Jets, even though starting QB Mark Sanchez struggled to put together a manageable offense. Rumors circulating around the Internet say Tebow has been asked by a few teams to switch positions to tight end, but Tebow has refused.

Undoubtedly a team would like Tebow as its QB, but maybe a position change is the best fit. As for now, the media frenzy can swirl around other players.

Lionel Messi is pretty good

Lionel Messi is a pretty good athlete. The guy can score from nearly anywhere on the pitch, making him a major threat whenever he handles the ball. On Saturday, Messi was surrounded on all sides by defenders. Instead of succumbing to the challenge, Messi managed to get some space and a shot at the goal.

The goal tied up the game between Barcelona and Athletic, and was Messi's 44th goal in 33 games.
