WENDOVER — A teen has returned home to her family after apparently leaving Saturday to meet a man she met online.

Laura Ortiz, 17, went missing Friday at about 2 p.m. She reportedly told family members that she would leave to see a man she met online, possibly named Jesus.

West Wendover Police Sgt. David Wiskerchen said Ortiz and the man had been "exchanging Internet chat for some time."

Ortiz called her mother and returned home Sunday after seeing media reports about herself, according Wiskerchen.

He said the investigation into the disappearance was still ongoing and no contact had been made with the man in question. Police are trying to locate and identify the man, he said.

He also said there were unanswered questions as to what went on while she was missing and who she was with.
