LAS VEGAS, NV - KSL Newsradio has been awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Award. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service.

NAB selected 10 winners from a pool of 50 finalists.

Once again in 2005, KSL Newsradio led the way in radio public service for Salt Lake City and the communities covered by our AM and FM signals. Recognizing a storied heritage of service, our engaged employees eagerly followed the station's example by volunteering in their communities.

KSL aired more than 5,600 minutes of PSAs and more than 8,000 minutes of public service programming in '05 worth nearly $1.6 million. We also continued our support of long-standing programs like the KSL Primary Children's Medical Center Radiothon and the Quarters for Christmas campaign.

Additionally, we sent our KSL reporters to Indonesia and the Gulf States to supplement fund-raising efforts with descriptions of the Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina devastations. For the 29th year, the KSL Primary Children's Medical Center Radiothon generated more than $350,000, bringing the total for its Charity Care Services to more than $5 million. The KSL Quarters for Christmas drive raised $141,867 to purchase 4,729 pairs of shoes for needy children. Additionally, the staff donated 3,809 hours of service to area non-profit organizations.

On and off the air, legendary KSL and our employees walk the talk in embracing Bonneville's corporate values to "Make a Difference" in Utah.
