PROVO — Teenagers who love to write are invited to spend spring break in far-off galaxies and magical worlds from their own imagination.

BYU’s Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing Camp for grades 9-12 will be held 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 1-5 at the BYU Conference Center, 770 E. University Parkway.

Participants will learn from successful science fiction and fantasy authors. They will choose two sci-fi/fantasy books to read, then analyze the techniques and style the authors used to develop exciting worlds filled with intriguing characters. They will then have the opportunity to try their hand at writing in that genre.

The $160 tuition pays for five half-days of instruction, writing and classroom materials, a T-shirt and snacks. To register for the camp, visit or call toll-free 877-221-6716.

BYU Writing Camps are sponsored by BYU’s College of Humanities and Division of Continuing Education.
