TOOELE &#8212 Police have released surveillance photos of a man they believe burglarized five Tooele stores earlier this month.

Five stores &#8212 Great Clips, GNC, American Burger, New China Buffet and Dry Cleaning and Beyond &#8212 were burglarized early in the morning on March 1, according to Lt. Paul Wimmer with the Tooele Police Department.

The stores are all located on Main Street between 500 North and 1000 North. Police believe the same person was responsible for all five burglaries. Surveillance photos show a Chevy Malibu police believe may have been involved in the burglary spree.

Wimmer said the person broke the window of New China Buffet to enter the restaurant. At other businesses, the burglar seems to have hooked a pipe wrench to the lock to twist it off. Two of the businesses, Great Clips and GNC, share a wall, which the person used as an entry point.

"He broke into one store and actually cut a hole in the sheetrock between the two of them," Wimmer said. "He went through the wall to get to the other one."

Police are asking for anyone who may have information regarding the crime to call the Tooele Police Department at 435-882-8900.

The person apparently used an electric reciprocating saw to cut into some of the safes in the businesses, taking a couple hundred dollars from each business.

"Fortunately, almost all of these businesses have really good business practices, so they only got the money necessary to open the following morning," Wimmer said. "They didn't get a load of cash from any one business."

Police are asking for anyone who may have information regarding the crime to call the Tooele Police Department at 435-882-8900.

"We're hopeful. We've got some good evidence," he said. "You hit that many businesses and you leave a good amount of evidence."
