DRAPER — Two brothers were rescued from Cherry Canyon early Tuesday morning.
The men were snowshoeing on Lone Peak Mountain and were believed to have begun their trek Monday morning. One of the brothers caught his leg on a small tree, injuring his ankle badly enough that he couldn't walk anymore, Unified Police said. The brothers had hiked about two miles up the trail and over a ridge.
Lt. John Barker of the Unified Police Department said a state helicopter was sent to rescue the two men after they were able to call for help with a cellphone. The brothers had to hike another 20 feet to where the helicopter could safely pick them up.
Authorities said both men will be fine, but the extent of injuries is unknown.
