WASHINGTON (AP) -- Natural Organics Inc. is recalling some bottles of children's chewable calcium because they may contain trace amounts of a milk derivative that poses a hazard for people allergic to milk.
One allergic reaction has been reported.
The Melville, N.Y., company is recalling lots of 90-count bottles of Nature's Plus Animal Parade Children's Chewable Calcium, Natural Vanilla Sundae flavor, with product numbers 29996, E2999601, E2999602, and two-count sample packets of Nature's Plus Animal Parade Children's Chewable Calcium, Natural Vanilla Sundae flavor, product number 79996.
The packaging did not list casein, a milk derivative, that could be hazardous for people allergic to milk or with severe sensitivity to milk. The labeling has been corrected, the company said Thursday in the recall.
The product was distributed nationwide and internationally, including Britain, Ireland, France, Russia, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Philippines, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and United Arab Emirates.
The product is a white chewable tablet in animal shapes contained in 90-count plastic bottles with a lot number on the bottom of the bottle, or in sample packets of two tablets.
Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase. Consumers can call 1-800-645-9500 for more information. http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/naturalorg12--04.html. (Copyright 2004 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
