Students at New Jersey's Lenape High School are on a mission to save something precious to them: Words.
Words like sparsile or pamphagous.
They are now among the most endangered words in the Oxford English Dictionary.
Seniors in teacher Dan Monohan's English class are taking part in the dictionary's online "Save The Words" project to bring words back from obscurity.
Ultimately, the school's students will rally behind one word.
Teams of students trying to get the school to vote for the two finalists: Kexy, meaning "old and withered" and squiriferous, "to have the characteristics of a gentleman".
