Ahead of performance, Harlem Globetrotter reads to kids

SALT LAKE CITY — Harlem Globetrotter Anthony "Buckets" Blakes read to a group of kids at the Salt Lake Main Library Friday, and then dazzled them with brief display of the Globetrotters' signature ball-handling wizardry.

Blakes was at the library to celebrate the building's 10th anniversary. The library was designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie to reflect and engage "the city's imagination and aspirations," the library website says.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker has proclaimed Feb. 8 as Harlem Globetrotters Day in the city. The Globetrotters will play a game at EnergySolutions Arena on Monday at 7 p.m.
