WELLSVILLE — Five people walked away from a plane crash in Cache County Saturday virtually uninjured.

A single engine plane carrying five people, including the pilot, were flying over the Wellsville area Saturday afternoon, apparently as part of a birthday celebration, according to Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Locke.

Passengers included, Katherine Mohlma, Kara Fielding, Jonathan Fielding and the Fielding's infant son, along with Pilot Lynn Goodsell.

The group took off from Logan Cache airport at about 1 p.m. with the intent of flying over the Wellsville Mountians. At about 1:30, Goodsell reported problems with the fuel system. After using carburetor heaters, the engine shut of entirely and could not be reignited.

The plane made a landing in a snow-covered field at about 2950 W. on SR 101. However, After travelling roughly 20 yards, the front landing gear dug into the ground and the plane flipped end over end.

Nevertheless, none of the five occupants were harmed in the crash, with the exception of the pilot who sustained a small cut to the forehead that required no medical attention, according to Locke.

"They were extremely lucky with this one," he said.

An investigation is ongoing, involving both the Cache County Sheriff's office and the FAA.
