SALT LAKE CITY — In an interesting turn of events, Aaron Roderick just pulled what he did just a couple of years ago when he took the job at Washington and returned to Utah a short time after.

Aaron Roderick will return as the receivers and passing game coordinator at the University of Utah after accepting an assistant coaching position at Brigham Young yesterday.

Aaron decided his heart was at Utah and with our football program and asked me for the opportunity to return.

–Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham

Roderick has been a member of Kyle Whittingham's staff since Whittingham was appointed Utah's head coach in 2005.

"Aaron decided his heart was at Utah and with our football program and asked me for the opportunity to return," said Whittingham. "Aaron has been a valuable member of our coaching staff for the past eight years and is an excellent coach and recruiter. We are pleased he chose to stay with us."

"The response from my players, our coaches and the fans left me overwhelmed and I realized how much I loved it here and didn't want to leave," said Roderick. "I believe in Coach Whittingham and this program and I want to continue to be a part of it."

I have to think that this is something that head coach Kyle Whittingham cannot be excited about. Either you are in, or you are out.

It is great to have Roderick back as he is a great recruiter. This just continues to be a strange situation.
