PROVO — According to a source close to the BYU Football program, Robert Anae will return to serve as the Cougars' offensive coordinator, a little more than two years after he resigned from that post to coach the offensive line and coordinate the run game at the University of Arizona.

The Sports Beat:
In six seasons as BYU's offensive coordinator, Anae presided over a Cougar attack that was annually among the nation's most proficient.
How many of the current offensive staff members will be retained is unknown at this time, but indications were that former BYU running back and current athletic department staffer Mark Atuaia may be brought on as the running backs coach. Anae would double as the offensive line coach.
Brandon Doman, who served as offensive coordinator for each of the last two seasons, after working as quarterbacks coach under Anae for six seasons, interviewed to keep his old job; his current status is undetermined.

According to the source, Anae was not forced out when he left BYU in late 2010, but rather made the decision on his own, feeling that the time was right for a change. His pending return seems to make clear that his acumen was greatly valued by head coach Bronco Mendenhall and AD Tom Holmoe.
