In this modern world where attention spans are short and fame is fleeting, the reliable longevity of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is refreshingly laudable.

This coming Sunday morning at 9:30 sharp, for the 4000th time a switch will be flipped, a cue given and yet another edition of the program Music and the Spoken Word will go out across the national airwaves.

Think of it - broadcast number 4,000. What a remarkable achievement for this Utah-based treasure!

It all began on July 15, 1929 when a single microphone suspended from the ceiling of the Tabernacle on Temple Square picked up the sound that was transmitted to some thirty radio stations nationwide. From that relatively inauspicious beginning, Music and the Spoken Word is firmly entrenched as the longest continuous network broadcast in the world! Sunday's across America wouldn't be the same without the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

As the station of origin for each of the 4,000 broadcasts, KSL takes special pride in the Choir's latest longevity milestone. KSL is honored to be affiliated with such a gracious, professional and renowned organization. To all involved in the weekly production of Music and the Spoken Word, we extend our heartfelt congratulations.
