SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Minuteman Project is planning a rally next week to oppose illegal immigration.

The Utah Minuteman will hold a "Wake-Up America" rally on May first to counter a nationwide call for immigrants to stay at home that day. It's also meant as a show of support for cracking down on illegal immigrants.

The rally will be held at Washington Square from three to eight p-m on Monday.

Supporters of illegal immigration is also planning a nationwide boycott of work, school and all businesses on Monday.

"A Day Without an Immigrant," is in protest of get-tough legislation, passed last year, that would bolster border security, crack down on employers and increase criminal penalties.

The rallies are both planned to send a message to Washington.
