One group of Aggies was embarrassing some Spartans in California last weekend. Another group of Aggies was in the comfort of its home, getting ready to face the same Aggies it was watching.

A week after they easily defeated the San Jose State Spartans, the Utah State Aggies will meet the New Mexico State Aggies.

The battle of the Aggies is very lopsided on paper, as WAC-championship contender Utah State (5-2,1-0 WAC) takes on the last-place team in that same conference, New Mexico State (1-5,0-2 WAC). NMSU head coach DeWayne Walker won't let the records deter his confidence in his team, however.

In fact, Walker knows his Aggies usually tough against Utah State and he plans on continuing that tradition this weekend.

Utah State will host New Mexico State on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT.

Here is what coach Walker had to say about the Aggies of Utah State:

On Utah State as a team overall:

"Utah State obviously is a very good football team. Defensively they're very stout up front. I think they do a great job, scheme-wise. Offensively the quarterback has really improved. He's very athletic. He's improved his passing. (Kerwynn Williams), the running back, is very explosive. They are very well coached, offensive-line wise.

"So they've just done a very good job with building that program. They have great resources. They've made a commitment to football. It's pretty cool to see where they were and where they are. So we have our hands full, no doubt about it. But we're going to practice hard this week and our guys are very excited of our playing against a very good Utah State football team."

On USU being the best team in the WAC:

"I tell you what, La. Tech is pretty good. I just think all those teams, they've improved considerably. So I think they'll be in the hunt for sure."

On running back Kerwynn Williams:

"I'll tell you what, that running back, he's a good player. He was a good player when Turbin was there and some of the other backs. Now it's his turn and I'm not surprised he's having a pretty good year."

On how tough NMSU has played in the past against USU and if they will do the same this weekend:

"I hope so. Our guys, we play Utah State tough (and) San Jose State, so some of these teams who are having a pretty good year, we've played them pretty competitively. So we'll find out on Saturday."
