Oscar-winner RENEE ZELLWEGER took time from filming new movie MISS POTTER to attend the unveiling of a statue honouring children's author BEATRIX POTTER in England's Lake District.

The COLD MOUNTAIN star, who is currently shooting her role as Potter alongside EWAN McGREGOR in the picturesque region, hoped the 4.5-metre (15-foot) bronze monument would become "a distinctive local landmark".

The work of art depicts a group of children releasing JEMIMA PUDDLE-DUCK back into the wild, and is a feature at the Lake District's World Of Beatrix Potter.

Zellweger said over the weekend (22-23APR06), "It brings the whole Miss Potter story to life to be in the places where Beatrix lived.

"Arriving in the Lake District is like the culmination of the journey we've been on these past few weeks." (SC/WNWCCB/SH)
