(KSL News) -- State representative Dwyane Bordeaux today resigned his seat in the legislature.
Bordeaux was the only African American member of the legislature, representing the District 23 on the west side of Salt Lake City for the past ten years.
During that time he championed causes such as gang violence prevention and treatment for sex offenders.
Bourdeaux cited family and business reasons for stepping down.
Governor Huntsman will pick someone to serve out the rest of his term.
