(KSL News) -- A special weekend for the Utah Symphony-- the release of its first CD in more than 20 years!
The album is called "Symphonic Dances" and features music of Leonard Bernstein, Sergei Rachmaninov and Gabriela Lena Frank... 73-minutes of music on the CD.
The symphony recorded the selections at Abravanel Hall nearly two years ago.
Keith Lockhart, Music Director, Utah Symphony: "Fans of the Utah Symphony will be thrilled that we're represented again on CD. This orchestra has such a rich recording history, but also this gives us an opportunity to show the rest of the music world what Utah already knows that Salt Lake has a great orchestra."
The symphony performed last night and tonight, and following the performances, Music Director Keith Lockhart autographed a lot of discs that people had purchased. 10-thousand CD's are now on sale...proceeds support the symphony.
