SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Jason Kreis scored in the 89th minute to lift Real Salt Lake to one-to-one tie with New York tonight. It was the Red Bulls' third straight tie to open the season.
Kreis, recovering from an A-C-L injury, entered the game as a substitute in the 64th minute. He scored on a header that caromed off the post and went behind Red Bulls goalkeeper Tony Meola.
The Red Bulls took the lead on a goal by Amado Guevara in the 78th minute. Guevara knocked in the rebound after goalkeeper Scott Garlick stopped Edson Buddle's point-blank shot.
Salt Lake extended its winless streak to 15 games, dating back to a two-to-one victory over Chivas U-S-A last August sixth.
