SOUTH JORDAN — Residents of a South Jordan apartment complex were forced out of their homes Tuesday when a suicidal neighbor barricaded himself inside his home.
The man was taken into custody without incident shortly before 5 p.m.
Police say the 33-year-old man's parents stopped by his apartment at 420 W. Cadbury Drive (11005 South) around 11 a.m. The man had been drinking and told them he was going to kill himself before locking them out.
The parents called police, and a SWAT team worked for several hours to coax him out.
The man's name hasn't been released, but police said he wasn't armed and wasn't injured in the standoff.
As of 5 p.m., evacuation orders were still in effect for 12 apartments at the Four Seasons apartment complex.
