OGDEN — A 61-year-old woman was killed in a rollover crash near the mouth of Ogden Canyon Saturday.

The woman and her 17-year-old grandson were headed west on Canyon Road near Valley Drive when the accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Ogden Police Lt. Will Cragun said. The vehicle apparently left the roadway once before the woman lost control of the car, rolling it.

Cragun said the woman had to be extricated from the vehicle, but died at the scene. Her grandson was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers closed off Canyon Road between Valley Drive and Harrison Boulevard for close to three hours, Cragun said. The accident is currently under investigation

The identity of the victim was not released pending family notification.
