TOLLESON, Arizona — A meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been reduced to a pile of rubble after an early morning fire broke out.

The fire began around 2 a.m. Friday morning in the chapel. According to officials, a neighbor saw smoke coming from the meeting house and alerted officials. Firefighters put out the fire in the chapel, only to realize it had spread to the attic. They contained the fire entirely around 6:30 a.m.

Officials say the fire is suspicious in nature, but are unsure of how it started.

No injuries were reported.
