SALT LAKE CITY — A woman's love for animals and her willingness to help stray dogs wins her this week's High 5.

Karen Allred will even pay out of her own pocket to see that lost or stray dogs are kept safe. Her friend and neighbor, Sandra Jorgensen, nominated her for the High 5.

"Any time there's a dog on the loose we call each other and say, ‘help,' Sandra said.

In her nomination she wrote, "Right now she is bringing a dog who the owners did not want anymore to the shelter. She is paying the $40 out of pocket to be sure that the dog has a fair shot at a new home. She is a great person and deserves a High 5."

Karen received a gift basket from our High 5 partner, Les Schwab, that includes $100 toward her next set of new tires. If you'd like to nominate someone for a High 5, click here.
