SALT LAKE CITY — Our High 5 recipient is Michelle Fogg, who founded the Utah Food Allergy Network five years ago.
Fogg's daughter suffers from severe food allergies. Now Michelle spends countless hours with the Utah Food Allergy Network at farmers markets around the state, helping educate people about allergies and healthy eating.
"The farmer's market is a great option for us to come get fresh produce and to come support sustainable living in our community," she said.
She was nominated for the High 5 by Maryann Alston, the director of Wasatch Front Farmers Market.
Fogg said about 150,000 Utahns suffer from food allergies, many of which could be deadly.
"It's something they face every day, every time they eat. And, you know, it affects 15 million Americans," Fogg said.
The farmers markets offer a variety of foods that work with various food allergies, such as dairy free options and gluten-free foods.
The Utah Food Allergy Network has more than 250 members, and serves the entire state of Utah.
