Senior couples are a great blessing in the mission field and there are lots of ways to stay connected with grandchildren while serving. One idea my husband and I used was meaningful and helped the grandkids feel like they were a part of our mission.
Before leaving, we purchased inexpensive photo books for each grandchild, filled a few of the front slots with meaningful pictures, then left some empty for the number of months we'd be gone.
Every month we served we'd e-mail them a fun photo of us in different areas of the mission and their parents printed out a copy for each child.
The photo book also was a count-down for "them"--because they knew when all the monthly picture slots were full, we'd be home. Those books are now a great mission souvenir for each grandchild!
