OGDEN — Interstate 15 closed in both directions for close to an hour Sunday after a power line fell onto the roadway.

Around 1 p.m. a power pole exploded on the east side of I-15 sparking a small fire and prompting a power line to drop onto the interstate, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Nick Bricker reported. The power line blocked both northbound and southbound traffic.

The incident also caused a three-car accident that sent a Clearfield couple and their young child to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Bricker said.

Meantime, the roadway was closed for approximately 45 minutes while Rocky Mountain Power responded to remove and repair the power line. Traffic in the area was diverted so the repair could be made.
