SALT LAKE CITY - Mother Nature is teasing us golfers. The temperature says it should be spring golf weather, but the wind is making it difficult to get out on the course and really enjoy a late winter or early spring round of golf.
Mother Nature aside, it is golf season and time for the 2012 debut of KSL Golf on KSL Channel 5. This show will air 11:05pm beginning this Sunday night.
We have a lot of ‘cool‘ things planned for the KSL Golf show this year. One of the main things we will be doing is trying to find Utah's greatest golf invention. There are a number of Utahn's that have come up with golf related inventions and we will be highlighting them every Sunday night. As part of the show, those inventions will also be placed in all five of the Uinta Golf stores in Utah to be sold for one week. This could be the start of something very profitable for these inventors.
Also during KSL Golf this summer we will be asking viewers to choose their greatest golf movies of all time. Doug Wright, host of ‘The Movie Show' on KSL NewsRadio on Friday mornings will review these golf movies and give us insight on production and popularity.
Of course KSL Golf will once again have the Uinta Golf Tips with Mark Whetzel, director of golf at Thanksgiving Point.
The Siegfried and Jensen ‘Putt for Cash' will return for a third summer, but this year it will be a little different. The past two summers one person had a 50 foot putt for $10,000, and only one person made the putt and pocketed the cash in 40 attempts. We wanted to make it more probable to make, so this year we are shortening the putt to only ten feet and if it goes in, that person wins $1000 and also qualifies for the final round. In that final round at the end of August, the qualifiers will each have one 50 foot putt and the first to make it will win $5000. With the shorter ten foot putt for $1000, the pressure should be extreme every week.
KSL Golf! The fun begins this Sunday 11:05pm on KSL Channel 5.
