WEST VALLEY CITY — Adam Finch and Dallin Bosco combined for 23 points helping Provo knock off defending state champion Highland in the first round of the 4A State basketball tournament.

The Rams had a chance to send the game to overtime trailing 42-39 in the final seconds but a three-point attempt by Riley Tucker fell short as time expired.

Highland started the game on fire. David Divver had 10 points in the 1st half and the Rams led by as much as 9. Provo was even better from the field in the half making 52 percent of their shots before halftime.

Highland was led by Liam Thomas who scored a game-high 17 points.
