SALT LAKE CITY — First it was Urban. Dan followed. Now it is Tim's turn.

Utah has lost yet another coach to the University of Florida.

Offensive line coach Tim Davis is heading to Gainsville to take the same position with the Gators.

"I always wanted to work and coach in the SEC, especially with guys I know and have coached with," Davis said Monday. "The SEC is the premiere conference in the country, and you get a chance to work with guys you've worked with who are very successful, very motivated, they want to be the best. You're working in a great environment and a great program like Florida. It's everything that you dream about."

Davis joins former Utah coaches Urban Meyer and Dan Mullen on the list of coaches the Utes have lost to the Gators.

Davis was hired in 2011 to coach Utah's offensive line. It was head coach Kyle Whittingham's interest in Davis that led to the hiring of offensive coordinator Norm Chow, who took the head coaching job at Hawaii following the 2011 season. Both Chow and Davis worked together at USC.

With Chow's departure, Brian Johnson, Utah's quarterbacks coach for the past two years and winningest quarterback in Utah history, was promoted to offensive coordinator.

The promotion of Johnson was accompanied by some restructuring of the coaching staff. Dan Finn, a Utah graduate assistant from 2004-06, was hired to coach the centers and guards, while Tim Davis was shifted to coach the tackles and tight ends.

Now, with Davis' departure, Finn will take over all of the offensive line duties, while a search will begin for another assistant.
