ROY — Police uncovered human remains Thursday during the fourth day of digging in the backyard of a Roy home.
Layton police said a body had been located about 3 p.m. at 3812 W. 4550 South during excavation efforts that began Monday afternoon.
Police said a search warrant was issued to the occupant of the home Monday in connection with the disappearance of Victor Flores, who was last seen in Layton on May 10.
Police at the time said circumstances surrounding the man's disappearance were "suspicious," and the investigation has remained active.
Lt. Garrett Atkin said police won't know the identity of the body or the cause of death until an autopsy is conducted, likely on Saturday.
"We probably won't know anything for certain until early next week," Atkin said.
Police described Flores as Hispanic, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He's originally from San Gabriel, Calif.
Police have been using heavy equipment to excavate areas of the home's backyard since Monday.
Police said the occupant of the home, Sarah Munn, has been "a person associated with the case throughout the investigation."
"She has been interviewed about it," Atkin said, declining to comment further.
