Get to know Life Coach Kimberly Giles - the author of LIFEadvice: This is my first blog post so I wanted to share a little about myself, for those of you who are following the LIFEadvice column.

Ever since I was a child I had a gift for solving problems and life has given me many opportunities to practice these skills. I am not one of those people who have had a smooth and easy ride through life. I've been through many difficult experiences, heartbreaking trials and even made some big mistakes along the way.

(I'm going to get ferociously honest with you - so you will understand who I am.)

I am not one of those people who have had a smooth and easy ride through life. I also pulled myself up out of the problems that plagued my life and fought my way through the challenges. Along the way, these difficult experiences taught me many important lessons.

Over the course of my life I've suffered chronic health problems and survived financial disaster. I've been divorced. I've been a struggling and lonely single mom. I married someone I shouldn't have married. I survived a spouse with mental illness and anger problems. I got divorced yet again - which is embarrassing to admit. I've helped a child battle drug addiction. I've been a step parent and an adoptive parent. I've basically experienced quite a wide range of human experiences.

(At this point you might be questioning how I can be a life coach - when my own life has been such a mess.) But I'm not done…

I've also had many opportunities to travel and meet people from all around the world. I have worked with people from almost every religion and cultural background there is and gained amazing insights through understanding their ideas and beliefs.

I also pulled myself up out of the problems that plagued my life and fought my way through the challenges. Along the way, these difficult experiences taught me many important lessons. In the end, I got my health back, solved my financial problems, started my own business and even became successful thanks to a lot of hard work and determination. I also got it right in the love department when I married my soulmate Patrick Giles.

Patrick and I have a fantastic marriage partly because we both learned so much the first time or two around. We now understand the principles which caused our previous relationships to fail. We also understand how to solve family conflicts correctly and we have the tools and the commitment level to make this marriage work.

My clients will tell you that the challenging experiences and mistakes in my past are what make me good at what I do. Whatever mistakes or pain you may be experiencing, I've probably been there or somewhere nearby.

I don't claim to have all the answers, though, and I don't claim to be perfect at everything I teach. I am a struggling student (in the classroom of life) just like you — but I'm doing the best I can and learning more every day.

I started the LIFEadvice column because I have been blessed with some unique perspectives on life and solving problems. (This is what you get when you have had a lot of problems to solve.)

I don't claim to have all the answers, though, and I don't claim to be perfect at everything I teach. I am a struggling student (in the classroom of life) just like you — but I'm doing the best I can and learning more every day.

I've been a certified life coach, giving principle-based advice for more than seven years, and I've been a popular speaker for almost 20. I still speak regularly at religious, community and business training events and it is something I love to do.

I've appeared on both national and local TV and radio as an advice guru and I was named one of the top 20 "advice gurus" in the country by Good Morning America in 2010. My advice was featured on their show and website.

I have appeared on Good Morning Utah, Good Things Utah, The Daily Dish, KSL News, The Browser and the Doug Wright Show giving advice. I have hosted a local talk radio show "The Don and Kim Show" featuring advice, humor and news. My articles have been published in the Deseret News, the Mormon Times and on KSL.com. I am just finishing my first book.

I am the president and founder of Claritypoint Coaching and LDS Life Coaching. Over the years I have worked with numerous coaching and personal development programs and experts. Each taught me some of the universal principles I use today. I have a wonderful group of coaches who work with me to teach these principles.

My hope for this blog, my articles and the KSLAM segments is to help you learn some life changing principles you may not learn anywhere else, which might make your life a little better.

We hope this blog will be a resource to you and will help you to find solutions in situations you aren't sure how to handle. Please send me your questions and let me know how I can help you.
