MILLCREEK — A teenage girl was seriously injured Friday when she was hit by a Unified Police patrol car.

Police say the accident happened just after 9 p.m. when the 13-year-old was attempting to cross 4500 South at 2968 East. Her father was parked across the street from her, waiting to pick her up.

The residential area is not well-lit, and investigators say the officer did not see the girl before he hit her. She was not in a crosswalk.

The girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
