OGDEN — A child playing with a lighter sparked a Saturday morning blaze that caused an estimated $90,000 in damage to a trailer home.
Ogden Fire Department Deputy Chief Chad Tucker said the fire was called at 9 a.m., with multiple crews arriving to find neighbors trying to put out the blaze at 541 E. 980 North. One of them suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
Both Ogden firefighters and crews from neighboring North View Fire Department responded and in the early moments of trying to extinguish the blaze the situation grew tense, Tucker said.
While entering the front door of the home, the floor was noted to be weak as one of the firefighter's foot went through the floor. Crews then backed out and fought the fire from the rear of the trailer, putting a quick stop on the blaze.
The family is currently being put up by the Red Cross.
