HERRIMAN -- It has been another great year for KSL's Quarters for Christmas, the annual campaign that helps raise money for children in need.
Donations came from people like a gentleman who emptied out his change drawer, to people who sent in checks.
Students at Butterfield Canyon Elementary School in Herriman, gave KSL a check for $3,043 today. The school picked Quarters for Christmas this year, to help out those in need during the holidays.
"We chose Quarters for Christmas because we knew it was a local charity that would benefit people in our own communities," explained Savannah Smith, who is on the student council.
During the fundraiser, the school asked for change, and the students brought in a ton of pennies.
"It was kind of miserable on Monday because of all the pennies," said another student council member, Spencer Lestarge. "There were a lot."
But as members of the student council counted the money every day after school, they thought of the children the money will help.
Gracie Malovich said, "I would just love to see the children and the smiles on their faces."
The students at Butterfield are just one example of the many people who support this worthy cause.
KSL's Doug Wright said, "Quarters for Christmas has been around for 45 years, literally blessing children through people that reach in their pocket and pull out there pocket change and put it in a box."
Each year at KSL, we get unique donations for Quarters for Christmas. This year, 5-year-old Ezra collected a quarter from all 50 states and made a collector's item, to help make his quarters worth even more.
"Quarters for Christmas is just such a wonderful thing," Wright said. "We just can't thank our KSL listeners and our KSL viewers enough for their generosity, each and every year."
