FARMINGTON — Students in the Davis School District will have to stay in school one more day before they can begin their winter recess.

The district has scheduled a makeup day as a result of the closure of schools during the windstorm on Dec. 1.

All schools will be open Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Schools following an A/B schedule will be on a B-day schedule during that day. Elementary and junior high schools will also follow an early-out schedule that day.

Winter recess will begin Thursday, Dec. 22, for all schools.

Utah State Board Rule R277-419-3 requires traditional nine-month schools to be in session for a minimum of 990 hours and a minimum of 180 days.

Residents in Bountiful and other areas of south Davis County had a lot of cleanup to do after Thursday's storm that blasted the area with hurricane-force winds, blowing over semitrailers, toppling trees, downing power lines, closing schools and creating extensive property damage.
