PROVO — A Provo woman was assaulted with an iron golf club early Friday in what police believe was a "possible drug deal gone bad."
A man and a woman entered the alleged victim's home near 700 East and 300 North just after midnight by kicking in the door, Provo Police Sgt. Mathew Siufanua said. The man then began assaulting the resident with an iron driver and both intruders kicked the woman multiple times.
"The victim suffered some bumps and bruises to her upper body and face," Siufanua said. "Nothing too severe. She was lucky."
The woman's injuries did not require hospitalization. Siufanua said police believe the altercation was related to a possible drug debt.
After the pair left the home, the victim called police and identified her attackers. "(The victim) knew who they were, so we knew who we were looking for," Siufanua said.
Around 3 a.m., someone reported two suspicious people in a pickup truck at a mobile home park near 801 S. State Street. Police responded and arrested the pair.
The man, Arthur Gene Brasher, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated burglary, assault, possession of spice and possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman, Michelle Lee Hanks, was arrested for investigation of aggravated burglary and assault.
