(KSL News) Just weeks before six people were killed in a 22-car pile-up on Interstate 80, the Wyoming Department of Transportation recommended safety improvements for that stretch of highway.
The study on I-80 between Rawlins and Laramie was finished in February. It offers several recommendations, including more snow fences and video monitoring during winter storms.
The department says it was in the process of reviewing the 415-page report, when the fatal crash happened.
Sunday's blizzard reduced visibility to near zero, leading to the chain-reaction crash and prompting troopers to shut down the road.
