Polish science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem, one of the country's most famous authors, has died at the age of 84, Poland's PAP news agency reported Monday.
Lem's assistant told PAP the writer died in the southern city of Krakow, but did not say when he passed away.
Lem's novels, including "Solaris" and "The Cyberiad", were translated into more than 40 languages and over 27 million copies were sold across the world. Several were turned into films.
