(KSL News) -- Utah Eagle Forum President Gayle Ruzicka spoke before the FDA today to discuss the impact of prescription drugs on children with ADHD.
Gayle Ruzicka, President, Utah Eagle Forum: "Doctors are putting children on the drugs and not letting parents know the side effects of these drugs."
Ruzicka testified before a Food and Drug Administration panel. The panel is trying to determine if medications like Ritalin, Adderall and Stattera should carry warnings about the risks of psychosis or mania.
Supporters say the prescriptions help control the tendencies of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Katy Warren, Used ADHD drugs: "I often couldn't read or a couldn't communicate effectively. The medications provided to me have caused no adverse side effects."
Medical experts urge parents to talk openly with doctors about the risks of the medications before children take them.
