SALT LAKE CITY -- Former Utah governor and White House hopeful Jon Huntsman Jr. has bought a condominium in the new City Creek Center in downtown Salt Lake City.
A Federal Election Commission report lists Jon Huntsman's official address as 99 W. South Temple. That's the Promontory Tower in the center. Condos there range in cost between $150,000 to more than $1 million, depending on their location and size.
The report doesn't mean Huntsman has given up on living in the White House. Even if he wins the presidential race, he is still a Utahn. It appears City Creek Center would be a place to live when Huntsman comes home to visit.
The Huntsmans have lived in several different homes over the past few years.
- In 2005, they sold their home in the Federal Heights area of Salt Lake City to move into the governor's mansion. Huntsman had said he, his wife Mary Kaye, and their six children would live in the mansion but keep their home near the University of Utah. Later they put it up for sale — the asking price, $3 million. It sold for an undisclosed amount of money.
- They moved to a home in Beijing, China when Huntsman resigned as governor to become U.S. Ambassador to China in 2009.
- The Huntsmans bought a brownstone in an upscale Washington D.C. neighborhood when Huntsman left the ambassador's job to consider running for U.S. president. The Huntsmans paid $3.6 million for the Washington home last June.
The completion and grand opening of City Creek Center, which is Salt Lake City's largest ever commercial and residential development, is expected to happen in 142 days.
