I am trying to find where I can locate weather records for Albuquerque, NM back as far as 1945. My family and I were flying from Wash. D.C. (in a DC3...pretty scary) to California to take up residence there. Our trip was halted at a layover at the airport in Albuquerque due to a very persistent snow storm. I seem to remember that our move took place in June of that year and I would like to pinpoint the day Albuquerque would have been hit with a summer snowstorm...is it possible that there are records going that far back and where I might find them. Any clues?

Thank you, Pat C.

Awesome question Pat, we are all so glad you have an interest in past weather, it is so fun to learn about abnormal storms! While a lot of climate data is readily available for the past 20 to 30 years, once you start going farther back, you run into trouble. The data is likely available but unfortunately it isn't free anymore! You won't break the bank but the Climate Data Center can get you the information you need.

Just perusing their website shows info for Albuquerque is available as far back as 1949 so I'd probably put in an email to those folks there. The link to the climate center is on the right of this page and at the bottom of their page there is a contact us link.

Sorry we can't help you more with this request!
