Many people consider Lake Powell to be the most beautiful lake in the world, with its sandstone canyons and 96 major tributaries just awaiting exploration. Did you know that Lake Powell is the second largest reservoir in the United States? Capable of storing 24.3 million acre-feet of water. Over 20 million people living in the Southwest depend on Lake Powell for their water supply and economic well being.

Our question tonight is...When was Glen Canyon Dam completed and when did Lake Powell reach "full pool?"

And our question is.....It took nearly 7 years to complete Glen Canyon Dam. Finished in 1963, the dam held back the mighty Colorado river and Remarkably, it took 17 years for Lake Powell to reach 3700 feet above sea level. Often referred to as "full pool."
