Amanda Butterfield Reporting It's been nearly six months since a deadly quake rocked Pakistan, leaving hundreds dead and destroying towns. One Salt Lake family can't stop thinking about the tragedy and is hoping to send relief there.
The Palmers just wanted to do something, and they know probably most people aren't thinking about victims of that country. That's what they want to change, with blankets.
Jodie Palmer's house is stuffed.
"It's a challenge, we eat on TV trays, and squeeze through the door."
She's housing over 1,500 blankets, and she doesn't want them any longer.
Jodie Palmer, Warm Pakistan: "We'd like to see them get off as soon as possible."
She wants them in Pakistan. She's been working with a Humanitarian Organization here and has learned it's still bad for the victims of the quake. Some kids still don't have shoes, coats, or blankets. It's not a thought that sits well with this mom to be.
Jodie Palmer: "As we're getting ready to take care of a child, realize how important it is for those parents in Pakistan who aren't able to take care of their own children."
Now that Jodie and her husband have collected all these blankets, they've learned from their project, called Warm Pakistan, the toughest part wasn't getting the blankets, but getting money to ship them. Their goal is to raise $2,000 to send the blankets to Pakistan.
And they need to move fast because right now shipping containers are on hold for them in California, but they wont be forever. Also, they need the room cleared because little Jack, or Maggie certainly won't need this many blankets.
