(KSL News) -- A trailer carrying an explosive chemical came unhooked from a big rig today in Wellington.

The Utah Highway Patrol closed a half-mile stretch of US Highway Six and ordered evacuations as a precaution.

The semi was turning out of a gas station when the trailer somehow separated from the truck, leaving the vehicle in the middle of the highway.

The semi was carrying ammonium nitrate, a chemical used to make rocket fuel.

UHP says that section of freeway will be closed for four hours.
