DRAPER — A 31-year-old construction worker who was hit by a passing dump truck last week has died from his injuries.

Due to a miscommunication between workers, Dallas Prokopis, of Magna, was hit at about 3:40 a.m. last Thursday on northbound I-15 near 14300 South while he was moving traffic barrels, according to police. Other workers had cleared the lane further up the freeway and Prokopis hadn't expected traffic to be in the lane.

The dump truck driver stopped immediately after the accident and called 911. Utah Highway Patrol have yet to file any charges related to the incident.

Family of Prokopis reported that he was taken off of life support Tuesday. Prokopis leaves behind a wife, daughter and two sons, with a third son due in November.

His employer has set up an account at Zions Bank, in Prokopis' name, to help the family.
