Segment 1
Achievement gaps, the economy, technology and standardized testing are quickly changing dynamics in the classroom. Those issues were discussed at an education summit in New York City. Salt Lake Community College President Cynthia Bioteau attended and explained to us what she took away from the conference and the future of education in Utah. We also discussed that with two teachers at different points in their careers.
Segment 2
Utah business and community leaders are organizing a movement—Prosperity 2020—to advance educational investment and innovation. The vision is that Utah's educated and trained workforce will propel Utah to enduring prosperity, improved quality of life and the strongest economy in the nation. We discussed the plan with Chairman Bob Marquardt.
Segment 3
We visited several classrooms around Utah to see what methods teachers are using to motivate their students. Plus, we read more teacher tributes including one from Nadine Wimmer.
