CENTERVILLE -- A man whose home was burglarized was arrested when investigators discovered one of the items stolen contained child pornography.
The Standard-Examiner reports police arrested David Paul Adams, 41, Tuesday and booked him into the Weber County Jail on suspicion of 62 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. By Wednesday night he had been charged with six counts.
Weber County sheriff's detective Josh Gard told the paper Adams reported his vacation home in Huntsville had been burglarized last spring. In June, investigators arrested Michael Ryan Bailey, 27, and his girlfriend, Natalija Bikic, 24, in connection with the burglary.
While executing a search warrant at the home Bailey was staying at, police found a backpack stolen from a vehicle parked at the vacation home. According to a probable cause statement, the backpack contained child pornography and children's underwear.
According to the Standard-Examiner, Bailey didn't know what to do with the pornography. After his arrest he told police, "I've done some bad things, but this is sick and wrong."
Investigators questioned Adams at his Centerville home, where his wife runs a private preschool. The probable cause statement indicates Adams admitted the images were his and called child pornography an old habit. He told police children in the images were between 10 and 13 years old.
Bailey and Bikic have pleaded guilty to the burglary.
