SALT LAKE CITY — Police have narrowed their search for an attacker who brutally beat a gay man outside a downtown bar in August.
The attacker is believed to be a white male, in his mid-20s, and is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. The man police are looking for was last seen getting into a gray or silver, four-door, compact car with a hatchback that might also have a white vinyl sticker about 10- to 12-inches wide on the rear window.
Leon Dane Hall, 19, reported to have been assaulted by a group of men shouting what he said were gay slurs at him, as he walked home from Club Sound, 579 W. 200 South, on Aug. 26. The group later punched him and kicked his head into a curb, resulting in serious injuries that required jaw surgery.
Earlier this week, police said part of their investigation includes an earlier drug-related arrest involving Hall. Up to this point, no suspects have been named.
Anyone with information about the alleged suspect is asked to call Salt Lake City police dispatch, at 801-799-3000. They may also text the word "TIPSLCPD" along with information, to police at 274637 (CRIMES).
