SALT LAKE CITY — An Orem man will spend at least 25 years in prison for taking sexually explicit photos of himself and a 9-year-old girl while she slept.

Ryan Chase Fox, 21, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to production of child pornography. He admitted to using his cell phone several times to take pictures of himself sexually abusing the girl while she was sleeping.

Because Fox was previously convicted of possessing child pornography, he faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups will sentence Fox on Jan. 17.

Fox has been in jail since his arrest last October after a federal magistrate found him to be a danger to the community.
